HOW TO SPECIFY

Four decisions turn a floor plan into a parts list. Work through them and your enquiry gives us everything we need to quote.

Start with the building. List the wards, wings, bedrooms, ensuites and communal areas to be covered, and note how many rooms sit on each floor. A hospital ward and a residential care wing need different coverage, so the room count is where every quote begins.

New builds and major refurbishments usually suit hardwired cabling. Occupied buildings, heritage sites and staged upgrades usually suit wireless, because rooms can come online without disruption. Mixed sites are common — part cabled, part radio.

Decide what each room gets. A bedhead unit and patient call button beside the bed, a pull cord in the ensuite, a staff attendance point at the door. Higher-dependency rooms often need more than one device.

Choose the annunciation. Overdoor lights, corridor displays, a central panel at the nurses station, portable receivers carried by staff, or a combination. Then send the room list and your choices through and we will price it.

What is a nurse call system?

It is the equipment that lets a patient or resident call for help and lets staff know where the call came from. A call point at the bed or in the ensuite raises the call, and an overdoor light, corridor display, central panel or portable receiver tells staff which room needs attention.

Wired or wireless — which suits my building?

Wired suits new builds and major refurbishments, where cable runs can be planned into the works and everything reports back to a central head end. Wireless suits retrofits, heritage buildings and staged rollouts, where cutting cable into occupied rooms is impractical. Plenty of sites end up with both.

How much does a nurse call system cost?

It depends on the number of rooms, the call points in each one, and how calls are annunciated. We do not publish prices because a twelve-bed wing and a three-storey hospital are different jobs. Send your room list and requirements and we will quote against them.
